Remember Jack's run for Council in 2019? You probably forgot about that by this point. So, why did the Vote for Meadville campaign fall apart in 2019? Especially when they were working on solidarity? Of course, don't just take our word for it.
By February of 2019, Jack was on his own. The reason?
We all know how this panned out. But now, he doesn't feel there's a need to distinguish himself? Now he's just fine fitting into the mold they are creating for him? Did he lose his sense of individuality, the ability to formulate his own ideas, insights and motivations? Why would you choose to jump on a bandwagon unless you just want to get on Council no matter the cost. Even if it means giving up your own agenda to push someone else's?
An excerpt from a Tribune article published in 2019, detailing some of Jack's own individual thoughts.
Harkless stressed his candidacy is about building solidarity and working in unison with those seeking to create a more inclusive and vibrant city government that listens to everyone.
“People want their opinion to matter; to me that means more than just a vote,” he said. “We cannot be so prideful as leaders that we become unwilling to admit that we don’t know everything. I don’t, but I do know where to look and who to ask.
Let's specifically look at the bit that states "more inclusive and vibrant government that listens to everyone." How does this compare to what the current campaign he's pushing?
"A small group of local elites continue to claim they know best when it comes to running our city". What the heck happened to listening to everyone?
Or how about that bit back in 2019 where he stated "We cannot be so prideful as leaders that we become unwilling to admit that we don’t know everything. I don’t, but I do know where to look and who to ask." So, maybe as business owners or "local elites" as they call them, they might know something about being successful, right? Maybe these elites could help the City recover from the financial deficit and that could be what they're trying to do. Why is the Vote for Meadville campaign trying to silence those that they claim are elite? What is the actual definition of elite and is it a bad thing?
Elite is, a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.
Again we state, why are they trying to silence this group? Why is Jack now changing what he was campaigning in 2019?
Oh and in case you have yet to investigate Crawford County United, which supports these candidates, here's a great little screenshot from their website;
The rich vs the rest of us? Are you awake yet? Why are we dividing people? What even classifies someone as "rich". Owning your own business, having a lot of money? What is it? Why are they so threatened by this "small group"? What the heck happened to listening to everyone? This is not about making the City better, it's about division of people to create power for those in charge. Don't allow them to divide us even further, we need to stand together and vote for individuals who form their own ideas, work with all of those within our City and who don't try to silence any groups of individuals no matter their status. Elite, poor, working, business owner, middle class, black, white, whatever you are; know who the heck you're really voting for. Don't play into a bigger political move, this goes beyond Meadville, even beyond Crawford County, this drive is State wide. No matter where you stand, don't let your voice be silenced. It starts at local levels and goes from there.
