So, skin color and financial status determine if you can make decisions in the City? Unless of course, you're a local elite, then you shouldn't be able to decide because you couldn't possibly know what the City needs.
But, if these folks are elite just because of the money, don't you think maybe they do know something about business or keeping finances on track? I mean seriously think of it, if you don't know how to manage $10,000 how are you going to manage say... $100,000 or how about $10,000,000?
Now, the color of your skin does not have any bearing on how qualified you may be as a candidate.
Finally, they state they want to involve everyone in the decision making. Well, except the wealthy few. But, this is already in place with the current council and will continue to be. On the Meadville City website you can find the email for the Mayor and Council members: https://www.cityofmeadville.org/index.asp?SEC=4578665E-AAD4-4DFE-8316-DBB3B84EAF9D&Type=B_BASIC
Meaning, you can literally give them your thoughts and ideas at any time.
Furthermore, all council meetings are accessible to the public. The public may request to be put on the agenda, or speak during the public comment section of the regularly scheduled meetings. Again meaning, your thoughts and ideas are heard by council.
This exerpt from the City site provides clear information regarding the process for getting on the agenda or making public comment at City Council meetings.
General Communication to Council Written communications to Council must be received in the City Clerk's office no later than Noon on Friday to be placed on the next Council meeting agenda. They can be mailed or hand-delivered to City of Meadville, attn. City Clerk, 894 Diamond Park, Meadville, PA 16335; or emailed to cityclerk@cityofmeadville.org. By providing public comment, your name, address, and comments become part of the public record of the meeting. Additionally any comments provided, as well as the name and address of the provider, may be subject to the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Act, discovery litigation, and other public records & disclosure laws.
So, why are they trying to make people believe that your voices go unheard? Didn't Larry & Autumn also want to include everyone? Why aren't they putting out their City emails for everyone to connect with them? If they wanted to "be accessible and responsive to all of us", you'd think they would be doing a better job. The only thing they're currently focusing on is block parties and canvassing for political gains. Seems a bit selfish if they're supposed to be serving all the people and listening to everyone.
